In this section we show you how to:

  1. Sign up for a new account and register for an OERu course
  2. Enrol for another OERu course – if you are an existing account holder.
  3. Login to a course site
  4. Retrieve a course site password


At the OERu, course registration is optional. You can access all OERu learning materials without a username or password. However, you will need to create an account on the wpms.oeru.org site to post comments and receive course emails.

Sign up for a new account and register for an OERu course

New users must first create an account on the wpms.oeru.org web site using the “Register” button on the login pop-up page.

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://wpms.oeru.org/ coursecode/ e.g. https://wpms.oeru.org/ lida101/
  2. Click on the head graphic on the right of the main menu ()
  3. Fill out a user name
    • Your username must use lowercase letters and may contain numbers
    • Usernames must be unique (using numbers as well as letters will help with this)
  4. Fill out a password
    • 6 characters minimum
  5. Click the “Register button” (This creates a new account on the wpms.oeru.org site and will automatically enrol you on the respective course site.)
  6. Complete the other details: name, email, country (the one with which you most closely identify)
    • You can update the course blog feed URL later if you’re not sure what URL to supply.
  7. Click register


Enrol for an OERu course for existing account holders

Existing account holders must enrol for each OERu course they wish to take. By logging in to a new course site with an existing account, you will automatically be enrolled for the selected course.

If you already have an account on the wpms.oeru.org web site, it’s a simple two step process to enrol:

  1. Go to your course site. This will be https://wpms.oeru.org/ coursecode/ e.g. https://wpms.oeru.org/ lida101/
  2. Enter your username and password, and click on the “Login” button to enrol for the course.

Login to a course site

You need to login in order to post comments on a course web site.

  1. From the Course site click the head graphic ().
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. Click Login.


Retrieve a course site password

  • If you forget your password, you can retrieve it.
  • First check that you have not got caps-lock set to on. (The username is always in lowercase).
  1. Click on head graphic ().
  2. Click on “Forgot password”.
  3. Enter your username or email address.
  4. Click “Get New Password”
  5. You will receive an email with instructions (Check your spam folder if you don’t receive the email).
